Why does Postman verify my data while updating from Postman v7 to v8
While Postman v7 has been an offline application with additional syncing features, Postman v8 is a completely online application and uses the data stored in your Postman account when you are working within workspaces. Due to this difference, Postman v7 will perform a one-time verification that all of your local data to ensure that they have been synced correctly with your Postman account.
Resolving issues that you might encounter during the data verification step
There are usually two types of errors that might happen when Postman performs this data verification. If any of these errors occur, we do not recommend updating to Postman v8.0.
1. Accounts with syncing disabled
If you see this error, this means syncing has been disabled for your account. This can happen for the following reasons:
- You have not opt-ed into the syncing feature for your account
- You had explicitly turned off the syncing feature for your account
- Your account belongs to a team with a non-free plan and syncing has disabled for your account by Postman due to unpaid invoices and payment issues.
To resolve this issue, you need to enable syncing on your account and we recommend that you reach out to us through our Support Center for doing the same.
2. Apps that cannot establish a reliable connection with Postman servers
If you see this error, this means your Postman app is unable to connect reliably with our servers. If you do not have a stable internet during the update we recommend you retry the update when you have a reliable connection.
If you continue to see this, this could mean that Postman app is not able to connect with our servers from within your network. Postman uses WebSocket connections behind the scenes and certain VPNs, proxies or firewall can interfere with this connection.
If you constantly work from this network environment, we recommend not updating to Postman v8.0 as Postman v8.0 will not work reliably without a stable connection.
To resolve this issue, we recommend checking your network configuration or reaching out to your IT department. As always, you can reach out to us through our Support Center if you need further help with this.
